The Secret Dream World of a Shopaholic

This book by Sophie Kinsella is a very good read esp for girls. This is the second book which i read of hers, first one being "The Undomestic Goddess" which was a good read but this was much better :)

Story revolves around Rebecca Bloomwood who is a journalist telling others how to manage their money but just cant manage hers. She just loves shopping. Its a hilarious read esp when she is tempted to buy things and the reasons she gives for the same. Esp the way she tells everyone will tell Rebecca in Denny and George scarf, Rebecca in this, Rebecca in that and keeps buying stuff for herself. The way she reacts when she sees a sale/discount sign, the way she tries to cut down, make more money everything is hilarious.Twist at the end is also good ;)

Can relate to her in many aspects but not that much a shopaholic as her :-D

All in all a great book and looking forward to read all the books of Shopaholic series :)

Few people just amaze me!!

Was watching a reality show today - India's got talent. I had seen the season 1 and hence starting watching season 2 from auditions itself which began yesterday.

Today I happened to see a performance by Vinod Thakur which amazed me to a great extent. This guy has lost his legs or is handicapped since birth about which he dint mention, but he performed too well and had chosen hip-hop dance form. I haven't seen any normal person who has done hip-hop better than him. He is just too good, hats off to him and all the best from my side :)

Which is better working at onsite or at offshore :)

This poem was written by an Infoscion, every fact is so true :)

To every aspiring man and lady there , who
Lands in this country, with H1B, L1, B1 through,
That comes here for life, wife, money or job,
That travels almost half way across the globe,

It would be a dream come true, for some,
Who longed for all those costly wine and rum,
That thought life here, was all about fashion,
Leaving behind that you had, your own passion,

For boys, a few days of night life and clubs,
For ladies, fashion clothes and massage rubs,
The initial days of laughter, travel and fun,
All the games on skiing baseball , home run,

Finally, work eats all of your effort and time,
Going for a outing, will appear to be a crime,
No more, lengthy, more frequent tea breaks,
No one bothers about you, for Christ sakes,

You are all by yourself, in this free country,
You will be left like a solitary leaf on a dry tree,
You are answerable, to all clients and bosses,
You are solely responsible for gains and losses,

You can no longer take excuses, for tasks,
You have to answer every client, who asks,
You fake all that accent, that you really can’t,
Here at client place, you simply cannot rant,

You hair style changes, your choice changes,
Your clothes vary from indo, American ranges,
You try out a lot of things, which you would,
Otherwise not try in India, for your own good,

You walk alien, talk alien, and work different,
You respond to every email that was sent,
You just can’t afford to be away for a while,
You don’t even get to talk or wink or smile,

You want to listen to hip hop, techno or rock,
You tend to be awake, more than your clock,
You use words like soda, cookies and peanuts,
You try out roller coasters, with so many guts,

You would long for a long weekend, to come,
You will be glad about what you’ve become,
Dollars, dimes and transferring money2India,
Some live a quiet life, to save money, oh, Yeah,

Wherever you are and whatever you may do,
End of day, be honest to yourself, and true,
You can fake, pretend, lie, boast, or complain,
You can even flaunt about riding in the rain,

Don’t work for appreciation, just do your work,
Be loyal to yourself, work best for every perk,
Towards the end, if you can close your eyes,
For a convincing day of yours, that went nice,

My request, to all you young men and women,
Live your life, ladies; spend time with wife, men,
All that you need to do is , just try being true,
Life will remain sweet, for all, even me and you!

Accidents are more scary when you experience one!!

This was when we were going to Goa for my cousin bro's marriage. Due to carelessness of 2 drivers, lives of around 35 people could have been in danger. We were travelling in a Volvo bus to Goa and this incident happened when the driver wanted to stop for dinner around 9 p.m. He was trying to take a U turn on a high way near Dabaspet. I guess he dint even bother to see whether there was a vehicle coming behind and for our bad luck it was raining heavily too. There was a lorry coming behind which dint see our bus taking a U turn and banged into our bus.

The sound of the collision of the two vehicles brought all the passengers to a great shock and we were even scared to open our eyes to see what has happened. Volvo almost tilted and came back to position. Thankfully since it was a Volvo, the seats are at a greater height than other buses, hence the lorry hit the luggage section. One big window glass was broken into pieces and the guy right next to the window was hurt. Dad was right in front of that seat and thankfully nothing happened to him. Me and Mom were on the other side and glass pieces were all on our face, head, ears but nothing happened to us. The guy who was hurt had lot of patience, dint panic and was taken to the hospital. Most of us were in total shock. We also heard that the lorry driver was hurt badly but he was not there when the ambulance arrived.

I think its the good luck of few people in the bus or might be since we were travelling to Kuladevasthan, God saved us. Thankyou God.

Its been almost a month since this accident happened and to this day im so scared when someone applies a sudden brake, i just recollect that sound, that scene and my heart loses a beat!

Accidents have become so common nowadays and majority cases are due to carelessness while driving and also rash driving. Why dont people understand that we have to live our life and not leave our life!!

Do we really care for others????

Yesterday evening as many things occupied my mind, I was just flipping channels on tv when I came across a movie "Mussanje Maathu". I had read a review about the movie in my friend's blog so I thought let me watch the movie.

I watched the movie for some 10 mins, where an auto driver tells his story to Sudeep who is a RJ at Radio Mirchi and ‘Mussanje Maathu’ is a show run by him in the evenings where depressed call him up & share their problems. Here the auto driver tells about his life and how his mom had taken care of him throughout his life. One day when he was waiting for customers at the auto stand, one person comes to him and asks for help as some lady is seriously injured cos of an accident. He tells him to take them to some hospital to which the auto driver refuses telling its very far and only if u pay me double the meter il come. To this the person refuses as he does not have that much money. The same evening when the auto driver comes home he gets to know that the lady who was injured is none other than his mother who passed away few mins after he refused to take her to hospital.

This is a lesson to be learnt not only by auto drivers but by every single individual. In many situations we land up thinking about ourselves and not about others who might get affected by us handling the situation in a different way. What will i get if i do this, why should i do this, who has helped me, why should i help others, what benefit do i get, please remove all these questions from mind and help people in need when they need you. Yes, its true that in some cases we need to think about ourselves, our family but not always! There are many situations where a small help from us might help others change their life. Lets start caring for the society also sometimes!
